Spartans Shutout Tritons in Series Opener

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa (32-5, 17-2 SSC) softball team defeated Eckerd College (11-36, 3-13 SSC) by a score of 6-0 on Friday evening at Naimoli Family Stadium.
Senior Deanna Henriott tossed a complete game shutout over 7.0 innings with 10 strikeouts and only three hits allowed. Henriott improved her record to 19-4 in the win over the Tritons.
Becky Vyzas highlighted the Spartan offense, as she collected two triples and one RBI. Stacy Piagno also added two base hits and one RBI. In all, six different Spartans collected base hits.
Tampa will be back in action tomorrow when they will play Eckerd again in a double-header starting at 1 p.m., at Naimoli Family Stadium. Admission to UT softball games is free of charge, and live stats will be available on tampaspartans.com.
